Takesure Chiragwi slaps player, quits Warriors role

Ngezi Platinum Stars coach Takesure Chiragwi issued an apology and withdrew from his role as Zimbabwe national team assistant coach after he struck midfielder McDonald Makuwe on Saturday at Rufaro Stadium. The incident occurred after Ngezi conceded a goal in a 1-1 draw against Dynamos, and ZBC Jive TV broadcast the altercation live. Chiragwi acknowledged his behavior as wholly inappropriate and accepted full responsibility for his actions.

The 41-year-old coach personally apologized to Makuwe, and he extended his regrets to Ngezi Platinum Stars, the Premier Soccer League, ZIFA, fans, and the broader football community. He stepped away from the Warriors technical team ahead of FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Lesotho to allow disciplinary proceedings to proceed without interference. The Premier Soccer League condemned the violence and launched an investigation while requesting a detailed report from Ngezi Platinum Stars.
