Tanko Promises Medeama Title Quest Next Season

Medeama soccer coach Ibrahim Tanko wants to win Ghana's top league next season after his team finished eighth this year. The Yellow and Mauves earned 50 points but missed their goal of reaching fourth place. Tanko said the results disappointed him and his players throughout the campaign. The team lost their final home game which marked their only defeat at their stadium. He believes major roster changes will help them compete for the championship.

The former Accra Lions manager plans to remove several players who cannot help the team succeed. Some athletes will transfer to other clubs and others will play for smaller teams through loan agreements. Tanko wants to sign new players who can make immediate contributions to the squad. He specifically needs a center defender and a goal scorer to strengthen key positions.

The coach praised his current young players but admits the team requires more talent to challenge top clubs. Adding quality athletes will give Medeama better chances against stronger opponents next season. The new Ghana Premier League campaign starts September 26 with all teams hoping to claim the title. Tanko believes his rebuilding plan will transform Medeama into championship contenders within one year.
