Tej Pratap Yadav to contest 2025 Bihar polls from Mahua, slams Nitish Kumar

Tej Pratap Yadav announced his candidacy for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections from the Mahua constituency in Vaishali district. The former Cabinet Minister and elder son of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav previously won this seat in 2015 and served as Health Minister. He established a medical college and completed various development projects during his tenure. Yadav contested from Hasanpur in Samastipur during the 2020 elections and secured victory there.

The politician held the Environment, Forest, and Climate Change portfolio when the Grand Alliance formed government in 2022. He responded cautiously to the Special Intensive Revision controversy surrounding voter lists and distanced himself from internal party matters. Yadav criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and described the current state as complete lawlessness. He expressed skepticism about JDU returning to power and questioned Prime Minister Modi's leadership effectiveness. The leader affirmed his loyalty to his father's political ideology and clarified his recent visit to the Samajwadi Party office as a family meeting.
