Police in Harare have arrested three men for allegedly operating as unlicensed estate agents. The suspects, identified as Don Garikai Budzi, Tafadzwa Leslie Mwedzi, and Mordecai Tigere, were charged with violating the Estate Agents Act. They appeared in court and were remanded in custody.
Authorities stated that the trio advertised and sold both residential properties and commercial stands without being registered with the proper council. A police spokesperson warned that such unregistered operations present a significant financial risk to the public.
The arrests coincide with a police warning about an increase in companies fraudulently posing as legitimate real estate agents. The public is advised to always verify an agent's registration status and confirm property ownership before engaging in any transaction.
