Police officers arrested three people who broke into former Gender minister Zoe Bakoko Bakoru's house. The crime happened on Thursday night after Bakoko came back to her Arura home from Kampala. Thieves climbed over the wall around her property and went into the boys' quarters. Her driver Kassim Tusiime was sleeping there when they entered. Collins Asea from the regional police said the criminals took advantage of poor security.
Bakoko and her driver reached home around 11:30 at night feeling very tired from traveling. They forgot to lock the metal door because of their exhaustion from the long journey. She woke up at 3:30 morning and discovered the door was open. Many of her belongings had disappeared during the night. The stolen items were a Samsung J7 Pro phone, 80,000 shillings cash, national ID card, ATM cards, jeans pants and other personal papers.
Local residents gave police a tip around 3:50 Friday morning about suspicious activity. A team of CID officers worked with private K9 Security guards and the local police commander. They tracked down and caught three suspects near the area. The documents were found thrown away close to where the suspects lived. Police opened an official case for burglary and theft against the three men.
