Overloud just dropped a free update for their THU amp sim, adding something called AIR. This Amp In Room feature tries to make digital guitar tones feel like you are standing in front of a real cabinet. It goes beyond a basic speaker simulation by adding in subtle room sounds and air movement. The idea is to capture the spatial feel of a physical amp interacting with its environment, which regular impulse responses or close mic setups often miss.
You can find the new controls in the Cabinet section of the plugin. There is a main knob to adjust the intensity of the room effect. A menu lets you pick from different ambience types, with both a standard stereo mode and a wider setting for a bigger soundscape. The AIR processing also works inside the SuperCabinet tool for blending custom speaker impulses. For broader use, a master control applies the effect across all your presets at once. The update includes another feature called Transformer, which models the low-end thickening and high-end sparkle from a real amp's power transformer.
The new version of THU is a free download for current owners. It works on Windows machines from Windows 7 onward and on Macs running macOS 10.14 or newer. It comes in all the standard plugin formats like VST3, AU, and AAX.
