A little girl died after being hit by a vehicle with broken brakes. The three-year-old was holding her pregnant mother's hand in the Akrofo community within Ghana's Berekum Municipality. The child died immediately at the scene. Her mother suffered injuries but is now in stable condition at Berekum Holy Family Hospital. The victim's body is at that hospital's morgue.
The driver and his assistant escaped without harm. They are helping police with the investigation of the vehicle, which bears the registration GHA69-47-10. Local Assemblyman Kwasi Nketia blamed narrow roads for contributing to the accident. He criticized authorities for ignoring repeated community requests to widen the roads. Nketia said the area remains in shock over the tragedy, highlighting urgent concerns about rural road safety and poor infrastructure. He expressed condolences to the grieving family.
