Tokyo gamers melt down as Nintendo Switch 2 vanishes faster than PS5

Nintendo fans everywhere are struggling to buy the new Switch 2 console more than a month after its release. The gaming giant cannot keep up with massive worldwide demand for the device. Supply chain problems and factory slowdowns have created major headaches for shoppers. Industry experts predict the shortage will last until spring 2026. People must compete fiercely for every single unit that hits store shelves.

The company managed to ship around 6 million consoles during the first month of sales. This number beats both the original Switch and PlayStation 5 launch records. Financial analysts from major firms expect total shipments to reach 18 to 20 million units next year. The Switch 2 rollout moves 20 to 30 percent faster than previous Nintendo launches. Manufacturing speed has improved despite ongoing supply troubles.

Japanese customers face lottery systems at Nintendo stores just to buy the console. Popular retailers like Yodobashi Camera sell their limited stock within minutes of opening. Most shoppers walk away empty-handed from these rushed sales events. Company president Shuntaro Furukawa admits the supply problems are real and serious. Nintendo workers are pushing hard to increase production capacity at their factories.

The Switch 2 carries a higher price tag than earlier Nintendo systems. The company believes new features justify the extra cost for younger players. Market researchers think the console could sell over 100 million units before 2030 ends. This would surpass the original Switch lifetime sales record. Patient gamers must keep trying different stores and online retailers for their chance to buy one.
