Tongi blaze guts 3 firefighters, Yunus mourns

Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus voiced deep grief Saturday following a deadly chemical warehouse fire that killed four people in Gazipur's Tongi area. Three firefighters and one civilian lost their lives battling the blaze at Sahara Market on September 22. Five people suffered severe burns during the incident, with four succumbing to their injuries.

Yunus spoke from the United States, where he attends the UN General Assembly's 80th session. The chief adviser honored the fallen firefighters as symbols of courage and dedication who sacrificed themselves for public safety. He extended condolences to grieving families and praised Bangladesh's fire service as a dependable force. Yunus emphasized that the victims' deaths serve as inspiration for building a safer nation while acknowledging the dangerous risks firefighters face daily.
