Tot Drowns in Abandoned Abomosu Mining Pit

A young boy died after falling into a mining pit filled with water. The seven-year-old lived in Akyem Abomosu community within Atiwa West District. People saw him slip into the deep hole left behind from mining work. Community members rushed to help save the child. Their rescue efforts could not bring him back to safety.

District leaders moved quickly after learning about the death. Dr. Hannah Bissiw runs the Minerals Development Fund and started fighting against unlawful mining. Mr. Amo Johnson Anom serves as the District Chief Executive and spoke against these mining activities. He said the boy's death should make everyone realize these operations must end. The district government will make sure people follow all mining rules.

Local chiefs and community leaders need to help stop illegal mining. Queen mothers and other respected people should work with government officials. The district's future depends on everyone working together against these dangerous operations. Police at Kwabeng Station received all equipment taken from the illegal miners. Officers will investigate the mining tools and decide what happens next.
