20 Dead, 1 Critically Injured in South Sudan Plane Crash.

Unity State, South Sudan—Minister of Information and Communication Gatwech Bipal said a plane crashed at the Unity Oil field airport on Wednesday morning. The flight carried 21 people, including the crew, from Unity State to Juba, South Sudan's capital.

20 people died in the crash. One survivor remains in critical condition. South Sudan has not released more details about the incident.

Rescue teams are working at the scene. Officials are investigating the cause of the accident.

South Sudan has seen several plane crashes in recent years due to ongoing conflict in the country. In 2018, a small plane traveling from Juba to Yirol crashed, killing at least 19 people.

In 2015, dozens died when a Russian-built cargo plane carrying passengers crashed shortly after taking off from Juba's airport.
