Trump drops $100k H-1B fee bomb, Silicon Valley facepalms

Immigration expert Sarah Pierce from Third Way criticized the Trump administration's new H-1B visa restrictions as anti-business policies. The Department of Homeland Security proposed eliminating the current lottery system and replacing it with weighted selection that favors higher-skilled workers. Trump also introduced a $100,000 application fee for each new H-1B visa request.

Pierce argues these changes make America less attractive to foreign students and workers. She believes US universities will suffer because they depend on international student tuition revenue to fund American citizen scholarships. The immigration specialist suggests the administration uses harsh methods when careful adjustments would work better. Pierce notes that major corporations remain silent about these restrictions because they fear angering the current administration.
