Trump Goes Gaga Over New American Pope

Donald Trump sent good wishes to Cardinal Robert Prevost, who became the new Catholic leader. He posted online after the church made its announcement. The former president called it a proud time for America because this marks the first US-born pope ever chosen. He hopes to meet with Pope Leo XIV soon.

White smoke rose from the Sistine Chapel today, showing that cardinals had picked their new church head. People cheered loudly at St Peter's Square when they saw this sign. The voting process went fast, with cardinals agreeing on just the third try. They reached this decision during their first full day locked inside the Vatican. Church officials announced the name Leo XIV to excited crowds waiting below.
