Trump plots Washington, DC New York City takeover with Bowser ouster

Trump wants to take control of Washington DC and maybe New York City because he thinks his team can run them better. The president made these wild claims during a cabinet meeting where he talked about replacing local leaders with federal appointees. He believes his chief of staff Susie Wiles has been talking with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser about the idea. Trump says crime would drop and the cities would work much better under his control. He promised to find the best person to manage DC if he gets his way.

The mayor has not responded to Trump's crazy suggestions about federal takeover. Trump made similar threats when he was president before but never followed through with action. Congress would have to cancel DC's Home Rule Act for any federal takeover to actually happen. The president also attacked New York's Democratic socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani who is running for mayor. Trump called the politician a disaster and hinted at federal intervention there as well.

Trump refuses to reveal his exact plans for New York but promises to straighten out the city from Washington. He suggests some kind of federal action might come to the Big Apple under his leadership. The president clearly believes local Democratic leaders cannot handle their jobs properly. His comments show he wants more federal control over major American cities.
