Tshisekedi Dares Mukwege, Clutches Congo's Cobalt Cash

President Felix Tshisekedi fired back at his biggest critic during Congo's Independence Day speech. The leader defended his deals with foreign countries after Nobel Prize winner Denis Mukwege slammed them as terrible for the nation. Mukwege had called the recent peace agreement with Rwanda a complete sellout that hands over Congo's valuable minerals to outsiders. Tshisekedi promised that Congo's riches would never fall into the wrong hands. He spoke directly to the camera and told citizens their resources stay protected under his watch.

The Nobel laureate had spoken from Brussels last week and ripped apart the US-backed mineral deal. Mukwege said Rwanda gets to help manage Congo's cobalt and lithium mines under the new arrangement. He warned that foreign armies still occupy Congolese territory despite the peace talks. The doctor demanded that leaders bring back older regional agreements instead of these private handshake deals. Mukwege threatened to organize mass protests if the government ignores the constitution.

Tshisekedi painted a different picture of the mineral partnerships during his national address. He welcomed investors from America, China, Europe and Gulf nations to work with Congo on fair terms. The president praised former US leader Donald Trump and other world figures for helping broker the peace deal with Rwanda. He met with opposition politician Martin Fayulu recently to show political unity. Tshisekedi urged all Congolese people to stick together as their country rebuilds from decades of conflict.
