A family in Sabatia, Vihiga County, is mourning the tragic loss of two relatives who were struck by lightning during a heavy downpour on the evening of October 6. The victims, 20-year-old Timothy Luvai and 10-year-old Vitalis Ndondi, were warming themselves around a fire when lightning struck, killing them instantly.
Their 13-year-old sister, Stacy Muhonja, was injured in the incident and is receiving treatment at Itando Mission of Hope Hospital. The bodies of the two brothers have been taken to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
Their mother, Violet Minyoso, expressed deep sorrow and appealed for financial assistance with hospital bills and burial costs. Local leaders have urged residents to take extra precautions during the rainy season, including avoiding open spaces and switching off electrical appliances during thunderstorms.
