Two Men Get Double Life for Mbizo Murders

Court Gives Life Terms to Two Killers.

A court sent two men to jail for life yesterday after they killed two people in Mbizo last May. Judge Pisirai Kwenda gave the harsh prison terms to Edson Matarise and Nyashadzashe Nyahuma.

The judge found them guilty of planned killings near a school at night. The men waited to hurt people walking home. They killed Lovemore Marume and Chipo Gobiye at Ruvimbo Primary School.

Judge Kwenda heard the case in Gokwe. He let a third man, Edmore Mpande, go free. The judge said the killers meant to take lives. He said they should stay in jail forever to keep others safe.

"These were awful deaths," Judge Kwenda said. "If we still had death rules, this case would need them. We must keep these men away from the public."

The crimes began at 8:30 at night. Marume walked home from a shop. He had picked up sound gear from a church. The men stopped him near the school. They asked for his things. Marume said no. Then Matarise stabbed him many times until he died.

The men then took Marume's phone, sound box, money case, and cash. Matarise kept the phone, and his friends split the other items.

The same men then killed Gobiye. She tried to help Marume. The killers saw her walking with Kimberly Bhuka. Martha Kalulu found Gobiye's body the next day. She told the police.

Health checks proved both deaths came from the attacks. The law put these bad men where they cannot hurt more people.
