Business leaders from the United Arab Emirates identified investment prospects in Uganda's infrastructure and technology sectors after touring development sites on Monday. The delegation examined plans to transform Port Bell into a sustainable cargo facility serving Kenya and Tanzania while reviewing six expressway proposals near Kampala.
Investors visited the National ICT Innovation Hub and the Uganda ICT Institute, where 90 startups are developing financial technology and agricultural software. The delegation praised government support for augmented reality programs, training young developers. Ambassador Zaake Wanume Kibedi said the visit reflects confidence in Uganda's economic environment.
The assessment preceded the Uganda-UAE Business Forum at Speke Resort Munyonyo from Oct. 27 through 29. Officials plan to finalize partnership agreements between government agencies and private investors from both countries.
