Uganda Bank boss dares Airtel to ignite digital money revolution

The Bank of Uganda has a new leader named Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego. He met with people from Airtel, a company that helps people make phone calls and send money using their phones. He asked them to make more ways for everyone to use their phones for banking and buying things.

Dr. Atingi wants to improve life for everyone in Uganda. He thinks companies like Airtel can help many people, especially small business owners who need money to grow their shops. These business owners also need better internet to do their work. He wants Airtel to create new ways for people to use their phones to save and spend money.

The new boss of Airtel Uganda, Mr. Soumendra Sahu, came to meet Dr. Atingi. Mr. Sahu promised that Airtel would build better systems to help people use their phones for money and other things. He said Airtel wants to make sure everyone can use these services easily.

Dr. Atingi thinks it's important to keep people safe when they use their phones for money. He asked Airtel to teach people how to protect their information and avoid bad people who try to steal money through the internet. He told them the main bank of Uganda would make a new system to help with this.

Mr. Japhet Aritho runs the part of Airtel that helps people save and send money. He told Dr. Atingi they would keep creating new ways for people to save money, buy insurance, and borrow small amounts when they need it. These services help many people in Uganda improve their lives.
