Uganda, Malawi deepen ties at business forum

A major business forum has launched in Lilongwe, strengthening economic ties between Uganda and Malawi. Uganda's High Commissioner, Fred Mwesigye, outlined his country's stable economic growth and its role as a gateway to larger African markets. He also announced that Malawi Airlines will begin direct flights to Uganda, facilitating easier travel for business delegations.

Malawian official Sphiwe Msiska highlighted numerous sectors for potential collaboration, including agribusiness, manufacturing, and tourism. She detailed Malawi's investment incentives, such as tax holidays, and emphasized its stable political climate. The event, designed to identify specific partnership opportunities, featured presentations from both nations' investment and trade promotion agencies. This forum represents a concerted effort to increase trade and attract foreign direct investment for both countries.
