Uganda PFF Nomination Drama Explodes Nationwide

Uganda's People's Front for Freedom started choosing candidates for the 2026 elections just two weeks after official registration. The Electoral Commission approved the new opposition party on June 5 following lengthy delays. Michael Kabaziguruka leads the election management team that opened nominations Monday morning. Members can pick up forms at district offices or submit applications online.

Party leaders warned members against claiming candidate status before official selection. The nomination process will remain transparent and follow party rules. PFF broke away from the Forum for Democratic Change due to internal fighting. Opposition supporters who feel frustrated with traditional parties may join the new group.

The party wants to challenge President Yoweri Museveni and his National Resistance Movement during the upcoming elections. PFF plans to hold its official launch ceremony on July 8, 2025. Members hope to attract many candidates seeking political change at all levels of the election. Uganda prepares for what could be a competitive election cycle ahead.
