Union minister boosts reading, movies, and tourism in Shan State

Myanmar's information chief, U Maung Maung Ohn, traveled to Pindaya township in Shan State to inaugurate a literacy initiative at a secondary school within the Danu Self-Administered Zone. The minister emphasized government priorities to expand educational access and cultivate reading culture among young people, noting the zone's current stability and development progress.

Authorities distributed 50 digital television receivers for the autonomous region along with printed materials for local libraries. The Shan State administrator contributed three million kyat, while the zone's leadership body chairman provided over 4.8 million kyat and a private firm added 2.5 million kyat in support.

U Maung Maung Ohn later visited the Forever Yaywadi Company studio facility near Pindaya, where officials briefed him on construction plans. The minister stressed the importance of production infrastructure for cinema advancement and tourism promotion, urging filmmakers to create quality content. He observed ongoing filming activities and met with performers at the complex.
