Universal Audio Showtime '64 kills silence with free surf amp

Universal Audio has released the UAD Showtime '64 Tube Amp as a native plug-in that replicates a 1960s American tube amplifier used across six decades of rock and surf music. The software models the complete amplifier circuit to produce clean tones and natural distortion alongside tube-driven vibrato effects while offering microphone and cabinet configurations that eliminate the need for physical recording spaces. Artists from Dick Dale to Jack White have used the original hardware throughout its history. The plug-in remains free through on Oct. 31, after which the company will charge $99 or offer access through its UAD Spark subscription service.
