Universal Audio's A-Type Enhancer Plugin Now Native on Mac, Windows

Universal Audio released its A-Type Multiband Dynamic Enhancer plugin for Mac and Windows computers. The software works without Apollo or UAD hardware for the first time. Musicians can use the plugin with any digital audio workstation on their systems. The company originally designed the processor to reduce tape hiss during professional recording sessions. Studios later discovered the tool added clarity and presence to vocal tracks.

Famous artists like Queen, Stevie Wonder, The Cars and Fleetwood Mac used the original hardware on their recordings. The plugin recreates the Air, Excite and Expand effects from those classic sessions. Universal Audio built the only complete A-Type emulation available today. The software provides latency-free tracking and mixing capabilities for Apollo users. Musicians can access gritty analog textures through Crush and Gated modes on drums and instruments.

The plugin goes beyond the original hardware with advanced circuit modifications. Users can shape transients and create subharmonic effects through the custom expansion panel. Universal Audio includes the A-Type plugin with UAD Spark subscriptions. Spark members receive access to over 40 vintage compressors, tape machines and reverbs. The standalone plugin costs $199 for musicians who prefer individual purchases.
