Unshakable Church honors Apostle Sawasawa

Church members gathered at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo on Saturday to honor Apostle Professor Haney Resten Sawasawa, who died in October after decades of religious leadership. Pastor Godfrey Nyoni told attendees the late minister exemplified servant leadership through humility and dedication to Christian principles. The tombstone serves as a lasting testament to his commitment to faith and community service.

Sawasawa received ordination in 1964 and founded the United Pentecostal Church movement three years later, beginning with outdoor gatherings in Mpopoma. His ministry grew to encompass more than 300 congregations throughout Southern Africa. He later established the Unshakable Pentecostal Church, which moved from Mabuthweni Hall to Old Magwegwe after acquiring property for a permanent building.

Family members described their father as someone who emphasized compassion and togetherness in all settings. Anna Sawasawa and her brother, Victor, spoke about maintaining his teachings within their household and their religious community. Pastor Calvin Sawasawa delivered remarks emphasizing that spiritual presence provides comfort despite physical absence.
