US nabs second Venezuela-linked tanker in Caribbean

The US just grabbed another oil tanker near Venezuela. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the Coast Guard, backed by the Department of War, took the ship in a pre-dawn raid in the Caribbean. This is the second vessel they've seized in a few weeks, with both ships having loaded cargo in Venezuela. President Donald Trump recently called the moves a blockade, arguing Venezuela stole US oil rights and kicked out American companies.

This whole thing is getting framed as an anti-drug operation, with Trump hinting at even bigger military actions on the ground. The tanker headed for Asia after leaving Venezuela. Critics and some talking heads on TV are calling that a flimsy excuse, saying the real goal is to choke off cash for President Nicolás Maduro's government by stopping oil sales, which might cause more chaos inside the country. One analyst on a cable network suggested this is pure political pressure, a possible setup for a war aimed at regime change, not a fight against narcotics.
