Vosstaniya Vestibule Gets Major Facelift Soon

St. Petersburg officials want to fix up the second entrance at Vosstaniya Square metro station. This entrance connects passengers to Moskovsky railway station. Petersburg Metropolitan posted a new job listing to find someone who can design and do the work. The company needs to find contractors who can handle the project from start to finish. Officials have tried this before and are giving it another shot.

The renovation will update several key areas inside the station. Workers will fix the machine room where equipment runs the station. They will also work on the tension chamber and the main gate area. The sloped walkway that passengers use needs repairs as well. All these parts work together to keep the station running smoothly.

The job costs about 87.2 million rubles to complete. Officials will pick the winning company on June 23. The chosen contractor must finish all planning papers by July 12, 2027. Earlier announcements said all work should wrap up by January 25, 2027. The timeline gives companies enough time to do quality work.

This entrance first opened on August 13, 1960. Passengers climb about 54 meters when they use the escalators here. Workers already fixed some parts back in 2004. They swapped out the old maroon panels for metal ones on the escalator railings. The changes made the station look more modern.

City leaders plan to renovate many metro stations over the next few years. They want to update 14 different stations before 2030 arrives. This massive project will improve transportation for millions of riders. The Vosstaniya Square work fits into this bigger renovation plan.
