Vumbunu terror twins and the demonic crime curse on Zimbabwe

Abraham and Elijah Temayi Vumbunu earned their Terror Twins nickname after South African authorities captured them on July 5th. Police records reveal these brothers have committed robberies since the mid-1990s across Zimbabwe and South Africa. The pair allegedly stole $40 million during a 2003 heist at Mutare Parts Centre in Nyamakete. Law enforcement connects them to last year's $4 million Ecobank robbery that stunned Bulawayo residents. Their criminal resume includes stealing nearly 12kg of gold worth $675,000 from a cash transport vehicle traveling between How Mine and Fidelity Printers.

The brothers face charges for robbing banks, money transfer businesses, and retail stores throughout 2023. Bulawayo gangs linked to the Vumbunus allegedly grabbed over $858,000 and R508,000 during five separate raids. Their sibling Naison currently serves 62 years behind bars for armed robbery and weapons violations. Traditional healer Edgar Dube believes malevolent spirits can curse entire families toward criminal behavior. Family elders should banish such spirits according to traditional beliefs about generational curses.

Zimbabwe has witnessed other notorious criminal dynasties terrorizing citizens for decades. The Masendeke family produced multiple violent offenders including the legendary Edgar Masendeke who worked alongside Stephen Chidhumo. Martha Masendeke admitted her family suffers from a curse driving her sons toward lawlessness. The Muunganirwa brothers from Njube also built reputations as cunning criminals before police caught or killed them. Isaac Muunganirwa received 34 years total after multiple convictions while brother Christopher died during a Botswana robbery shootout.
