Zanu PF Leader Told to Step Down by War Veteran.
Blessing Runesu Geza is a war veteran who serves on the Zanu PF central committee. On Tuesday, he held a press conference in Harare, and other senior war veterans joined him.
Geza said President Mnangagwa has failed as a leader. He thinks Mnangagwa is not fit to run Zimbabwe. Geza asked the president to leave office now.
"We ask him politely to let go," Geza said. "If he refuses, we will ask the people to deal with him using the Constitution."
The war veterans helped remove the former president, Robert Mugabe. They are angry that some people want Mnangagwa to stay in power longer.
Mnangagwa has said he will follow the Constitution. He plans to retire when his last term ends.
But Geza believes there is a plan to keep Mnangagwa as president. He said actions by the President's Office show this.
"You say you follow the Constitution. Then you have people come to your farm to plan to stay in power," Geza said. "Your ministers support this '2030 agenda.' This is dangerous and illegal."
Geza said 90% of voters supported term limits. He said the war veterans will not allow those to be ignored.
"We cannot disrespect the voice of the people," he said. "We will not allow it."
