Watch Out For AMD 256 Core Server Monster

AMD showed off its next server chip called Venice at a tech conference. The company plans to release the processor next year with 256 cores. Current AMD server chips only have 192 cores at most. Venice uses the new 2nm Zen 6 design to pack more power into data centers. Server companies will be able to run bigger workloads with these chips.

The Venice processor supports 128 PCIe 6.0 lanes for faster connections. Memory speeds reach 12,500 transfers per second on 16 channels. Each channel handles 64 bits of data at once. All channels working together deliver 1.6 terabytes of bandwidth every second. AMD says Venice performs 70 percent better than older chips.

Each core on Venice runs 27.5 percent faster than previous designs. The chip doubles communication speed between processors and graphics cards. AI and machine learning tasks will run much quicker on Venice systems. Data centers need this extra power for modern computing demands. Venice targets the growing market for high-performance server applications.
