Water Co Paid Ex Spy Boss 1.5M a Month

Attorney General Dominic Ayine said Monday that Ghana Water Company paid about GHS1.5 million each month to a private firm tied to former National Signals Bureau head Kwabena Adu Boahen. The money should have gone to government accounts for internet services.

Investigators found Adu Boahen directed the water company to send payments to BNC Communications Bureau Limited, a company he runs with his wife, instead of to official government accounts. The arrangement started with GHS1.3 million monthly payments before rising to GHS1.5 million.

The water company transferred GHS650,000 every two weeks to this private business account. These transfers became key evidence leading to Adu Boahen facing financial misconduct charges.

Ayine described the arrangement as a criminal scheme during his Accra press briefing. The case represents part of broader investigations into financial practices at the National Signals Bureau, previously known as the Bureau of National Communications.
