Six lawmakers from Western Kenya backed Wycliffe Oparanya to become Deputy President in the 2027 election. They promised to bring voters in their area behind him as their pick. The group spoke up at a money distribution event for Uwezo Funds in Khwisero. These officials praised Oparanya as a leader who proved himself through his work as the former Kakamega Governor and his current Cabinet job.
The lawmakers created what they named the "Khwisero Declaration" to show they support Oparanya. They believe his leadership will strengthen their region and give it a strong place in the next government. Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka asked Oparanya to officially announce his run for office. He promised full backing from their group. Aseka mentioned that Oparanya has what it takes—experience, clear goals, and public trust.
Lurambi MP Titus Khamala agreed and stressed Western Kenya must join together in politics. He wants them to have more power when they talk with other leaders about the next government. Khamala said their community cannot stay without direction or connections. The MPs also suggested that Oparanya team up with Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula for more influence.
Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe talked about smart planning for their region. He said Western Kenya should come together and push for national leadership roles. Wangwe wants Oparanya to discuss terms and secure the Deputy President spot. MP Bernard Shinali from Ikolomani promised firm support and warned others not to dismiss Kakamega County votes. He said they must use their voting power smartly and will back Oparanya all the way in 2027.
Kakamega Woman Representative Elsie Muhanda called Oparanya a leader who creates real change. She pointed to his success as governor and Cabinet Secretary as proof he fits the job best. Muhanda announced the public agreed with their choice. She praised his development projects and confirmed their complete support through the Khwisero Declaration. This move starts a new phase for Western Kenya politics as leaders try to make their region more important in national decisions.
