Witness testifies against man accused of mosque break-in

A mosque attendant testified in Brikama Magistrates' Court regarding a break-in at a religious building in Gambia. Ebrima Jallow described discovering damage to the structure during early morning prayer duties on September 12, leading to the arrest of Momodou Jallow from Farato.

The witness explained that he found the door damaged and encountered the defendant near the audio equipment inside. Community members responded to his alert and detained the suspect before transferring him to Nyambai Police Station. Magistrate M.S. Dem presided over the proceedings.

Prosecutor CPL E. Fofana secured an adjournment after the testimony concluded. The defendant faces charges under Section 259 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025 for entering a building with criminal intent. Additional witness testimony is scheduled for November 20.
