Xiaomi's $350 Redmi K90 uses elite chip, may cut other specs

Qualcomm maintains its Snapdragon 8 Elite processor alongside the upcoming Gen 2 variant launching September 23. The company enables partners to offer budget-friendly flagship performance through the continued availability of the current chipset. Smartphone manufacturers can reduce overall device costs while providing premium silicon capabilities to consumers.

Xiaomi is preparing the Redmi K90 smartphone, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite, at approximately $348. MyDrivers identifies the device by its model number, 2510DRK44C, and codename, Annibale. The aggressive pricing strategy mirrors Apple's approach of extending the lifecycles of flagship processors across multiple product tiers.

Budget constraints force manufacturers to compromise display and camera specifications when integrating expensive processors. The Redmi K90 targets consumers prioritizing performance over premium hardware features. Qualcomm likely offers discounted pricing to partners seeking competitive advantages in the mid-range smartphone market.
