Yunus rallies Dhaka leaders for unity push as polls near

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus stressed the necessity for political consensus during Sunday's gathering at the Foreign Service Academy. Political parties must unite to ensure February's national election becomes a celebration rather than mere voting. The interim government leader emphasized that global attention will focus on Bangladesh's electoral approach. National Consensus Commission Vice Chair Prof Ali Riaz and other political figures attended the session. Yunus described this moment as the nation's single opportunity for transformation.

The Chief Adviser warned against allowing minor disagreements to derail major progress toward establishing New Bangladesh. Political leaders must complete the remaining reform steps to prevent future autocratic rule from emerging. Prof Ali Riaz encouraged continued cooperation among parties while acknowledging that fascist elements still threaten the state reform process. The consensus-building effort represents an unprecedented example of political collaboration. February's election will determine whether Bangladesh successfully transitions toward democratic renewal.
