Zanu PF purges delegates for lean Mutare conference

ZANU PF has begun accrediting delegates for its 22nd Annual People's Conference, which will convene at Mutare Polytechnic Pavilion Grounds from Oct. 13 to 18. The conference will feature a reduced number of attendees and concentrate on economic matters under the theme Attainment of Vision 2030 through economic empowerment and value addition. Party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa said registration started on Monday at ZANU-PF headquarters before expanding to provincial levels.

National Chairman Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri confirmed the venue stands ready with minor finishing touches remaining. President Mnangagwa will commission several projects on Thursday before the conference begins on Friday. These projects include a state-of-the-art milling plant at Mega Market, GMB silos, and a National Pharmaceutical warehouse at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.

Delegates will visit the Chimoio Liberation War Shrine in Mozambique, with provinces taking turns according to an agreed schedule. Mutsvangwa noted the party aims to consolidate its 2023 electoral mandate and assess progress under the Second Republic. He said exports have exceeded imports, while President Mnangagwa has addressed most resolutions from the previous Bulawayo conference.
