Zanzibar, China strengthen cancer treatment training partnership

Zanzibar and China are expanding healthcare collaboration through specialized oncology training programs that will equip 30 islander medical professionals with advanced cervical cancer diagnostic and treatment capabilities. Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Mngereza Mzee Miraji announced the initiative during launch ceremonies, while Chinese Consul General Li Qianghua pledged continued support including equipment, pharmaceuticals and expert personnel to strengthen disease prevention and care delivery systems.

Director of Preventive and Health Education Services Salim Slim reported that vaccination campaigns have reached 97 percent of the targeted adolescent females, marking significant progress in protecting women's health. The month-long curriculum, coordinated by China's Ministry of Commerce partnering with the Institute for International Business Training, reflects President Hussein Mwinyi's eighth-phase administration commitment to providing quality cancer treatment access across Unguja and Pemba islands.
