Zim and Moz Forge Money Magnet Trade Link

Zimbabwe and Mozambique have decided to boost their business partnerships during a major conference. Trade officials from both countries met in Beira to discuss new investment deals. Mozambique already ranks as Zimbabwe's fourth biggest trading partner. The meeting happened on Tuesday as part of a three-day business mission. ZimTrade organized the event to help companies from both nations connect.

Mozambican leaders want African countries to take charge of their development plans. Sofala Province has made changes to attract more foreign money into local projects. Government officials highlighted opportunities in building roads, bridges and other infrastructure projects. The province's governor plans to attend Zimbabwe's tourism fair in Mutare this September. Leaders emphasized that African nations must rely on themselves for economic growth.

Zimbabwe's trade experts believe business between the countries could multiply rapidly. The port of Beira gives Zimbabwean companies access to international shipping routes. Officials urged business people to grab opportunities in the neighboring country. The consul general encouraged companies from both sides to work together on new projects. Trade missions like this one help create lasting business relationships.

The conference reflects decades of friendship between the two Southern African neighbors. Political ties between Zimbabwe and Mozambique stretch back to their independence wars. Manicaland Province wants to partner closely with Sofala Province on regional projects. The Zimbabwean delegation will visit several companies in Beira before returning home Thursday.
