Zim ready for 45th Independence Day in Gokwe Nembudziya

Zimbabwe celebrates its 45th Independence Day at Nembudziya in Gokwe North this Friday. Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe reports that stadium work is 90 percent complete. Workers finished most structures, including changing rooms, with only minor touch-ups remaining. The new stadium includes six toilet facilities, terraces, and retaining walls.

Several permanent upgrades benefit the area beyond the celebration. Crews renovated the district hospital, built a mortuary. New hostels at Nyamuroro High School will house visiting students from across Zimbabwe. Nembudziya High received classroom blocks, science labs, renovated facilities. The ministry arranged 369 buses to transport people nationwide.

Events start Thursday with the Children's Party at Nyamuroro High School, where President Mnangagwa meets 3,000 students. The main ceremony happens Friday at Nembudziya Growth Point, followed later by a soccer match between Simba Bhora and FC Platinum. Previous celebrations occurred in Harare until recent years when the government moved them to different provinces.

Residents feel proud about hosting the national event. The preparations improved infrastructure, and the community benefited from the construction jobs during the work. Building materials came from local businesses, supporting regional economic growth. Each province will hold smaller celebrations following the national theme.
