Regional and international research organizations have praised Zimbabwe's Education 5.0 framework as a model for knowledge-based development across Africa. The system integrates teaching, research, community service, innovation and industrialization to link academic theory with practical industrial applications.
The Research Council of Zimbabwe is hosting the 2025 Global Research Council's Sub-Saharan Africa regional meeting, where delegates visited the National University of Science and Technology on Monday to observe the Education 5.0 approach. Nosisa Dube, director for evaluations and impact assessment at South Africa's National Research Foundation and co-chair of the Global Research Council, said the program has transformed universities into centers of industrial activity and community development.
The gathering includes the SGCI Academic Symposium, which will launch bilateral research projects addressing shared regional priorities, including sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, artificial intelligence and health innovation. An interactive session on curiosity-driven research will examine how African scientific perspectives can influence global research frameworks.
