Zimbabwe Goes Blockchain Crazy for Carbon Credits

Zimbabwe started using blockchain technology for its carbon credit system to make everything clearer. The country faced problems in 2023 when it suddenly canceled projects and took some money from them. This hurt groups like the Kariba Redd+ Project, which worked on these programs. Officials created the Zimbabwe Carbon Markets Authority to look after all carbon credit activities going forward. They hope this will fix trust issues after past troubles.

The new computer system comes from A6 Labs, located in Dubai. Officials say it marks the first system worldwide that allows people to track every transaction completely. This helps keep the carbon market honest for everyone involved. Zimbabwe creates many carbon credits compared to other African countries. The government asks all project makers to apply and meet certain standards if they want to join the program.
