Zimbabwe Women Mad About Pay Gap

Women in Zimbabwe earn much less money than men, despite making up most workers. They often work jobs that pay under $6 a day. Many women also handle most home duties, like carrying water. Girls leave school earlier than boys because families expect them to help at home. These old ideas keep women from earning what they deserve.

The country tried to fix this problem with new laws, but better rules are needed. More girls must finish school to compete for better jobs. Women rarely lead companies or hold top jobs even when they have good skills. Most female workers lack basic job benefits like paid leave after having babies. Better training helps women start businesses and escape low-pay traps.

Groups teach people that both men and women should share household chores and earn fair pay. The government started a bank that loans money to women for small businesses. When women earn more money, the whole country does better. Zimbabwe needs to keep fighting unfair pay. All these efforts help women and the entire nation grow stronger.
