Zimbabwe's Blueberry Exports Soar to New Heights

Blueberry Farming Grows in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is growing more blueberries, which it wants to sell to other countries. Last year, It grew 5,000 tons, and this year, it thinks it will grow 8,000 tons. That is a lot more blueberries.

Farmers in Zimbabwe are planting blueberries on more land. Last year, they used 643 hectares, and this year, they are using 650 hectares. The farmers are also getting more blueberries from each hectare. They used to get 9 tons per hectare, and now they are getting 12 tons.

This is good news for Zimbabwe. They have a plan to grow their farming businesses, the Horticultural Recovery and Growth Plan. The plan seems to be working well for blueberries.

Blueberry farmers in Zimbabwe hope to sell their fruit to China. China is a big market with many people. The farmers think they can make a lot of money if they can sell to China.

Zimbabwe has been growing blueberries for a few years. In 2018, they only made $1 million from selling blueberries to other countries. In 2022, they made $14 million. That is a big jump in just a few years.

Some farmers are trying new types of blueberries. These plants can grow fruit two times each year. This could help Zimbabwe reach its goal of selling $30 million worth of blueberries by 2030.
