ZRP steps up holiday safety plans for Easter, Independence

Police across Zimbabwe prepared safety measures for Easter and Independence celebrations. Police Commissioner General Stephen Mutamba asked everyone to help keep these holidays secure. His office arranged protection at all national, provincial, and district events.

Mutamba warned drivers against traveling after dark to reduce crashes. He ordered police commanders throughout the country to stop unlicensed buses and illegal taxis at checkpoints. Officers will take unfit vehicles off roads and arrest anyone driving drunk.

Police plan awareness campaigns, patrols, and searches to fight robbery, murder, and drug problems. Parents should watch children closely during school breaks because young people face risks of drug abuse. The current police campaign against drug dealers continues.

Officers will monitor bars to ensure they follow legal business hours, shut down unlicensed drinking spots, and arrest operators. Mutamba advised people not to carry large amounts of cash or store money at home. Companies should limit information about finances among workers to prevent leaks to criminals.
