Zuma’s daughter exits parliament, mercenary scandal swirls

Jacob Zuma's daughter Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla bailed from parliament after cops started looking into claims she tricked 17 South African guys into becoming Russian mercenaries for the Ukraine war. Her half-sister dropped an affidavit saying Zuma-Sambudla and two other randos promised security training gigs in Russia, but actually shipped the dudes off to fight on the front lines. Eight of the stuck fighters are apparently related to both sisters through their extended family.

The MK Party, which her dad launched after getting booted from the African National Congress, said her exit was voluntary and doesn't mean she's admitting guilt. Party officials claim they'll help get the stranded men home even though they're denying any involvement in the whole recruitment scheme. Zuma-Sambudla already has separate charges hanging over her head from the 2021 unrest that killed hundreds of people, and she's pleading not guilty to inciting violence through social media.
