Abagusii and Kuria Forge New Alliance for 2027 Elections

The Abagusii and Kuria people started planning a fresh political team for the elections coming in 2027. Both groups speak Bantu languages but live apart from each other. The Kuria folks stay mostly in Migori County. The Abagusii make their homes mainly across Kisii and Nyamira counties.

Leaders from these three counties met on Monday to discuss joining forces. The gathering pulled in big shots from the Senate and National Assembly, which represent these places. They invited chiefs who run government companies, college heads, important office workers, business leaders, and respected community advisors.

James Matundura heads the Kisii advisors group and showed up with Marwa Kitayama, who speaks for Kuria East. Matundura told reporters they talked about bringing people together as one big family and looking at ways everyone could help each other succeed through teamwork.

Some folks believe these leaders want their people to back both President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, who leads ODM. The meeting happened right after some sports fans yelled at Raila during a football event at Gusii stadium on Sunday. He had come to see the launch of new uniforms for the Shabana team.

Education boss Julius Ogamba came early that morning along with Sylvanus Osor,o who keeps lawmakers in line. Richard Onyonka from Kisii often criticizes President Ruto but still joins the talks. Many politicians from the area want to create a united front before election season heats up.

Shadrack Mose, the Solicitor General, made time for the meeting. Several local representatives showed up, including Steve Mogaka, Zaheer Jhanda, Patrick Osero, and Gloria Orwoba. Joash Maangi, Kenya's messenger to Uganda, joined the conversation as well. This marks the second time Gusii leaders have gathered this way within twelve months.

The official statement released later explained they focused on building stronger connections between regions to help everyone grow together. Leaders stressed how much they want the Abagusii and Abakuria to stand together moving forward. They believe unity creates more chances for everyone to succeed as the political landscape keeps changing ahead of the next national vote.
