Airtel Smartphone Deal Has Uganda Buzzing

Airtel Uganda joined forces with MOGO Uganda and Transsion Holdings to help people buy smartphones through easy payment plans. This team effort aims to break down money barriers that keep many Ugandans from joining the digital world. Customers can visit MOGO retailers or select Airtel stores with their National ID, pick a phone from the Tecno, Infinix, or Itel brands, pay a small first amount, and take home their device right away. Each buyer receives 3GB of free Airtel data monthly for three months to start using their new phone immediately.

Airtel Uganda Managing Director Som Soumendra called smartphones essential tools for success in modern life. He said this partnership makes digital power real and possible for more Ugandans than ever before. He mentioned that Airtel continues to build new network sites across Uganda and recently created an AI system that warns users about scams and fraud attempts. These steps support their goal as the top network provider offering strong and safe connections alongside affordable devices.

Eleving Group CEO Modestas Sudnius shared that his company has already invested 30 million euros in Uganda. With these new phone loans, they plan to double their business size and might expand to other markets soon. The program expects to help about 360,000 Ugandans each year access better technology. Benefits will reach students learning online, farmers checking crop prices, and small business owners running mobile shops through their phones.
