American Hunter Killed by Buffalo in Uganda

American Hunter Killed by Buffalo in Uganda.

An American man died while hunting in Uganda on Monday. His name was Frank Stuart Cox. He was hunting with three other people in a place called Karenga Community Wildlife Area (KCWA).

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) said the group found five buffaloes. They shot one, but it ran into some bushes.

When they found the buffalo again, it ran at them very fast. It hit Cox with its horns. Cox was badly hurt. Another American hunter named Trappe Mini Rudolf Francis was also hurt.

The other hunters killed the buffalo. They took Cox and Francis to get help. They went to the Kidepo National Park airstrip. They wanted to fly to the big city, Kampala.

But Cox died before the plane came. Francis went to Kampala to see a doctor. Cox's body went to Mulago Hospital City Mortuary. Doctors there will look at it.

KCWA is near Kidepo Valley National Park. It is a place where animals live. There are buffaloes, antelopes, elephants, and big cats.

In Uganda, people can hunt animals for sport. However, they must follow the rules, get a permit, and pay money to UWA.

Hunters can only hunt some kinds of animals. They cannot hunt elephants, lions, or rhinos, which are in danger. Hunters can only kill a small number of male animals.

Some people do not like sport hunting. They think it can hurt animals and make people want to hunt more, and they think it can make Uganda look bad.

But some people think hunting can help. They say the money from hunting can be used to take care of animals. They say it works in other countries like Namibia and South Africa.

In Uganda, many animals were hunted between 2001 and 2016. Impala and zebra were hunted the most, while sitatunga and hyena were hunted the least.
