The Special Investigation Team investigating the death of Assam singer and composer Zubeen Garg arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandipan Garg on Wednesday. Officials stated that the arrest occurred after Sandipan Garg appeared for questioning at the CID headquarters in Guwahati. He is scheduled to be presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court later in the day. Sandipan Garg, a cousin of the late singer, was reportedly present on the yacht in Singapore where the incident occurred.
Earlier, he stated on social media that he had fully cooperated with the investigation. The SIT, formed under the orders of the chief minister, has already detained Zubeen's manager, an event organizer, and two band members. Investigators continue to examine potential foul play and financial disputes linked to the overseas event. Zubeen Garg's death has led to widespread calls for justice and transparency in Assam.
