Atusaye Nyondo joins Highlanders in Bulawayo

Zimbabwean football club Highlanders FC has signed former SuperSport United striker Atusaye Nyondo as their latest acquisition. The 34-year-old Malawian becomes the eighth player from his country to join Zimbabwe's premier league this season. Nyondo arrives as a free agent following his departure from South African championship side Casric Stars FC earlier this year. The Bulawayo-based team announced his signing alongside midfielder Martin Mhubu ahead of their Chibuku Cup quarter-final match. Highlanders expect the veteran forward to participate in Sunday's fixture against Scottland FC at Barbourfields Stadium.

Nyondo earned recognition by winning the 2011 National First Division Golden Boot award with 16 goals. His international experience extends to representing Malawi in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations tournament. The striker previously played for multiple clubs across South Africa and Ethiopia throughout his career. He reunites with Dutch coach Pitier De Jong after their previous collaboration at Silver Strikers FC. Seven other Malawian players currently compete in Zimbabwe's top football division.
